Do you think that martial arts helps you in the, the "Quiz Show" environment at all?
- I don't know.
Just, like, I've been taught, like, confidence and, like, perseverance, so I think that's helped me a lot, yeah.

You-Yan, you've been growing a bamboo plant for a while, I hear.
- That's correct.
HANSON: How long?
- Since fourth grade, actually.
HANSON: Is it one of those bamboo plants that grows, like, a foot a day?
Are we talking about something that's reaching through the ceiling?
- Yeah, so, if it was reaching through my ceiling, I think I'd have a really tough time sleeping every night.
(laughs) But it grew up... It's one of those bamboo plants that you can buy in, like, a big department store, and it was in fourth grade or around that time when I actually just picked one up and decided to start growing it.
And miraculously, it hasn't died yet.
HANSON: That is pretty miraculous.
Dean, you're a big fan of Netflix comedy shows?
- I am, yeah.
HANSON: How many are there?
- Too many to count, but I guess I had a lot of free time in the pandemic.
HANSON: You got the, inspiring any, like, future stand-up comedy plans?

- I think I'll probably stick to trivia.
HANSON: Okay.
- Yeah.

- I have heterochromia.
I have two different-colored eyes.
Um, I think it's just something with the genes.
Like, when, when the genes for my eye color were forming, they just formed both one blue and one green, rather than both being one.

- Yeah.

- Um, I don't know, it sort of started as a side hobby, so I would say not that good.
(chuckles) HANSON: Maybe we start with, like, ordering food at a restaurant.
- Definitely, definitely... HANSON: Or saying, you know, "Where's the library?"
- Exactly.

You do a unique kind of math?
- Yeah, so when I was probably four or five, I, like most kids, went through a presidents phase, where I memorized the presidents, and then their term numbers.
And then as a party trick, my parents would bring me out.
And they'd ask me to do, like, presidential math, where you do, I don't know, what's George W. Bush minus George Washington?
Then you'd subtract their term number from the other term number.
HANSON: That's an easy one, though.
