This is the No.
1 Barbie that was produced in 1959.
What makes it distinctive are the holes in the feet.
And it had a special stand.
And then also her face is very distinctive in that it has white irises.
And this is a special outfit called "Gay Parisienne," which was only made a couple of years.
APPRAISER: Well, you were very accurate on your description.
I'd like to point out that the doll also has the original rubber band on the ponytail.
GUEST: Yes, it does.
APPRAISER: That means a lot to Barbie collectors.
GUEST: Yes, it does.
APPRAISER: Well, now, what did you pay for it ten years ago?
GUEST: I paid about $2,000.
APPRAISER: Wow.
(laughs) GUEST: I hope it's worth more than $2,000.
(laughing) APPRAISER: (laughing) Well... it is.
And the movie that came out on Barbie has really affected the price of these dolls.
And on today's market, it would be between $9,000 and $12,000.
GUEST: Wow, that's wonderful.
APPRAISER: (laughs) This outfit's very rare.
And if you just sold the outfit, it would be $1,500.
